Montessori del Mundo (MdM) is a nonprofit public charter school with a dual-language Montessori curriculum. We are committed to providing a high-quality preschool through 8th-grade education.
Our purpose is to foster an environment that develops lifelong learners and multilingual agents of change. MdM graduates are bilingual, self-motivated, critical thinkers, with a love of learning, who will shape and advance the integrated communities of the 21st century.
What is Montessori?
Montessori is an educational philosophy born from scientific research conducted by Dr. Maria Montessori. The curriculum is designed to develop the whole person, aiding students’ academic pursuits, independence, concentration, and social development. Montessori schools trust children to direct much of their own learning, guided by professionally trained adults, within a carefully prepared environment.
The Montessori philosophy is a methodology that any school, public or private, can choose to adopt. There is no single way a Montessori school has to be organized or run. What makes our school authentically Montessori is that our teachers are trained in the method and our classrooms and operations are built around Montessori’s core principles.
Who We Are
At MdM, all teachers are fully Montessori certified through the American Montessori Society, of which we are a member, or the Association Montessori Internationale. Our curriculum is built around Montessori materials, and our daily practices are rooted in the principles Dr. Montessori identified: mixed-age classrooms, hands-on learning, long stretches of uninterrupted work, and a focus on children’s developmental needs. Unique among Montessori schools, we also weave in dual-language instruction, promoting Spanish/English bilingualism and biliteracy for all students.
We are and will always remain an independent public school and not a branch of a larger for-profit franchise. There is only one Montessori del Mundo.
As a public charter school, we are authorized by the state through the Colorado Charter School Institute. This means we are held to the same standards as every other public school in Colorado through the Colorado Department of Education. This is why any family can enroll a K-8 student here without paying tuition; we established MdM as a charter school because we strongly believe that an authentic Montessori education should not depend on what a family can afford.
In addition to our K-8 program, we offer early childhood education through Casa de Niños. While we rely on tuition income to fund Casa, we utilize all available public funding programs to reduce the tuition barrier as much as possible. 80% of our Casa families receive at least a 50% scholarship.

Accountability
We regularly report on our finances and academic outcomes to the Charter School Institute, the state of Colorado, the American Montessori Society, our many public and private grant funders, and our broader school community. Each of these entities helps hold us accountable and ensures we follow through on our promises.
This layer of accountability, combined with a Montessori foundation, is what makes our school what it is: one public school providing authentic Montessori education because we believe it’s what’s best for children’s development. We’re proud to have you join us in this work.
