On May 16, Montessori del Mundo celebrated our 8th Annual 5K & Kermés. The event brings our community together for a morning filled with energy, determination, and celebration. Nearly 175 students, families, staff members, alumni, and friends came together to continue this cherished MdM tradition.
The morning started with our 5K & Family Fun Run. Preschool students completed a 100-meter run, while Kindergarten students ran 150 meters. Students in 1st grade and older joined family members, friends, alumni, and community supporters in completing the full 5K course. Runners showed enthusiasm and perseverance as their classmates, teachers, and loved ones cheered them on.
This event represents months of preparation and dedication. Throughout the school year, students train during P.E. classes, building endurance, healthy habits, and confidence in preparation for race day. One of the most meaningful moments of the day was seeing the pride and joy on students’ faces as they received their medals after crossing the finish line, having achieved a goal they had worked toward for months.
Following the 5K, our community continued the celebration with the MdM Kermés. This fun-filled event featured six food vendors and local merchants selling handmade toys and other products. OpenEnergi joined the event with a hands-on solar energy activity and Zumba classes, while several additional community businesses participated to share their work. Families enjoyed staff-led activity stations, including rock painting, face painting, and hair tinsel, which gave students the opportunity to be creative and enjoy time with friends and family. Finally, the PTO had a booth where they shared information about their role within the school community and sold stickers and pins to help fund their initiatives.
The event was filled with excitement and community spirit. Thanks to the incredible support of staff, families, volunteers, and our community, the 2026 5K & Kermés was one of the largest and most successful celebrations MdM has hosted to date.
